The following is a general list of some common questions most of our past client haves asked.  For your convenience we have also provided our general answers for such.

Q. How many years have you been dj-ing?

A. Both DJ 151 and DJ Emenes have been dj-ing since 1990.

Q. Do you DJ the event yourself, or do you send someone else?

A. To ensure our quality of work, we do ALL of our events ourselves.  We do have a team of professional DJ's that we have personally scouted and trained, however, most of our customers request that we personally DJ their event, and don't mind if it costs extra. So that we are personally able to accommodate an event, we do not take extra bookings or double book; nor do we contract other DJ's to go service our bookings.  As a guarantee of our service, if you have booked MiB , then we will personally make sure you experience MiB 100%.

Q. What kind of music do you play?

A. We cater a wide variety of music.  We won't make a false promise and say that we'll play everything, but we will ensure that we will work hard to satisfy all of your music needs -- whether it is Top 40, RnB, Hip-Hop, Reggae, Old School, House, or Indian.  We have serviced various club events to receptions of many nationalities.

Don't simply take our word for it. Do your homework- ask for references, come see us perform, or simply ask if we have experience in mixing the music of the format you require.

Q. I know MiB mixes music live, but can you explain what the difference is between re-mixing music and mixing music.?

A. There is a lot more that goes into dj'ing beisde hiting the play button.  We pride ourselve in our abilitiy to seamlessly 'mix' music.... and that is it!  While some people are under the notion that we just re-mix music at an event or simply play re-mix trax, we would like to clarify that our focus is to simply play good clean music with good clean fades.

Being able to mix seamlessly ensures a continuous dance beat with no off beat fades into the next track.  To seamless mix one track to another, in other words "beat mix", the beats of the two tracks must be matched and then effectively mixed across, thus ensuring a continuous beat.

Re-mixing is when one track is overlayed with another beat.  The idea behind live re-mixing is to ensure that the beats of both tracks are matched to ensure no off beat sounds when both tracks are played together simultaneously.  If tastefully and creatively done, and if DONE RIGHT, this can add a new element to the underlaying track, and the event.  But re-mixxing may not be for every event.

As mentioned earlier, our focus is to seamlessly play music.  As we read the crowd, we always use our descretion to re-mix certain tracks if sought to be fit for the occasion.

Q. Does your price vary with the number of people at an event? If it does, then why?

A. An event with 50 people requires less equipment than an event for 1000 people. In order for us to accurately quote a price, we will always ask how many people will be attending the function.  This is very important if we are to bring our own equipment.

Most people will ask why our price goes up if there are more people.  Unlike caterers, who charge per person, our price will change based on technical issues that will arise; often this making the difference between using 2 speakers or 10.

Q. I'm getting Company X to do it for X amount. Will you match it?

A. No. Depending on the event and what you require, Company X may be sufficient for you!  We strongly stand behind our product and reputation, and fairly price our services in accordance to our experience.  Because we DO NOT want to compromise our product, we don't find it fair to compare one company to another based on price.  That being said, you get what you pay for.

. Do you charge more if the party goes late?

A. It depends.  We are there to ensure that the crowd is having fun, so if the crowd is having fun, so are we!! Generally prior to the event, we will agree to an end time and any charges if the event goes late. Depending on our availability, generally, we have no issues to accommodate playing music if the party goes late.

Q. Do you MC?

A. Yes. Having said that we MC, does not mean we will MC your event.  It is best that you personally hire an MC to cater to your event.  However, we will MC during the event when the music is flowing to hype up the crowd and to stimulate interaction.

Q. Are you interactive and do you motivate the crowd?

A. Yes. There are many ways a DJ can be interactive and captivate the entire crowd.   As each event is different and unique, we always assess whether we need to get involved to stimulate and liven up the crowd.  Sometimes we let the flow of the music take care of the interaction.  As the energy of the music flows seamlessly from one song to the next with no breaks or gaps, the crowd's reaction, usually cheers or hands being pushed in the air, attests to a motivated crowd.

Q. Do you provide Demo's of your work?

A. Yes.  Although most of our business has been by word of mouth or referral, some new clients have requested to see a demo of our work.  It is important to note that it is not possible to sum up over a decade of experience into an audio or video clip. Additionally, not all functions require the same music.  We have tried to do our best to showcase our work though select video and audio samples that are available for demo purpose in our MEDIA & XTRAS section, bearing in mind that - there is no ‘one size fits all'.  If you're not sure, you are always invited to come and see us at another event before you hire us. Just ask and we'll tell you where we are playing.

Q. Do you travel?

A. Yes we do.  In fact we have serviced various events and functions around the world.  We have dj'd outside of North America to as far as Europe and Asia.

Q. Do we need to meet you to book you?

A. Not necessarily.  This really depends on you.  As a matter of fact, for the majority of events that we have serviced, we don't meet our clients until the day of the event!  To make booking our services as easy as possible, we have an online booking form that will create an INTERACTIVE PARTY ZONE account through which you can confirm and make bookings, review and approve contracts, make necessary payments, request your songs before-hand… and much more.

Alternatively, you can contact us as well, and we'll gladly arrange a FREE online, or in person consultation.

Q. When is the best time to book to guarantee availability?

A. We are busy year round, and do service various events around the world.  It is ideal to book at least ONE year in advance.

Q. How much of a deposit do you require to secure a date?

A. 50%.

Q. When do you collect the balance?

A. Normally before we befing the event.

Q. We want a custom mix for a routine, performance, our slow dance, or our cake cutting.  What do we do?

A. Depending on the song or songs you want mix, we can professionally customize the selection to meet your needs.

Q. Do you have back-up equipment?

A. We always bring adequate equipment to service a wide range of functions to ensure that nothing unfortunate happens.  Furthermore, all of our equipment is regularly tested, updated and primed to be in top-notch working condition.

Q. What kind of lights/effects do u provide?

A. It's all a matter of appearance…every party needs some basic lighting to spice up the dance floor… but beyond this, it will come down to preference and appearance.  Don't let a mobile music company fool you with the latest and greatest lighting equipment that they have. In the end, it's the talent of your DJ, not how many disco balls you have. There is no point having an amazing light show with a DJ who does not know how to read the crowd.

If you are going to go all out with respect to other areas of your event, then you might as well get the best lighting available.  We do accommodate an adequate arrangement of lighting and can make arrangements for extensive lighting effects.  Something to note and to plan for… any extravagant light show may get drowned out by the video light of your videographer.

Q. There are going to be some performances at the event. Do you provide their music?

A. No we don't.  Since various songs sometimes have various different versions and mixes, it is best if they bring their own music on CD.

Q. Do you provide screens/projectors?

A. If you need an extra Mic, speakers or video screen / projector - we can make arrangements to accomodate it.
